David’s full commitment to unapologetically and unashamedly revealing personal details with a sense of humor. His interaction with his own audience and obvious joy in sharing the story. I am gay and found so much of David’s story personally relatable, but I attended the show with a straight friend and he was laughing just as much as I was. The use of projections and voiceover narration was very clever.
What I didn't like
Any scene in which an actor has to have conversations with himself is inherently tricky. David does it as well as such things can be done.
My overall impression
Equal parts hilarious and moving, with a fairly dazzling array of characterizations, and really stoked lots of personal memories of my own childhood.
