What I liked

I loved how the script was adapted to be politically correct but not preachy, and still honors the original sentiment of the story. I loved the songs and the costuming. Special snaps for Captain Hook and Tinkerbell, who really went the extra mile with their characterization.

What I didn't like

I think adding a microphone to the bedroom scenes would help the audience take in all of the clever dialogue. On the tech side of things, there were some clearly missed sound cues. The actors did a great job of adapting around it, but could tighten things up on the tech end.

My overall impression

It’s amazing to me that this is the ONLY show in Fringe with a cast of children, and they certainly deliver! Producing theatre with children is not an easy undertaking, but the risk pays off here! The show puts a fresh spin on a well-known story, modernizing it just enough so it feels relevant but still wholesome and fanciful. My favorite part is the original songs- they are so catchy, and joy emanates from the cast. I also think they did a nice job of fully utilizing the performance space.

I’m so glad to see another original piece from Storïwr back at Fringe, and to see kids and adults coming together to produce quality arts experiences.
