The “gender-swappedness” of it was such a fun exploration of gender norms in a non-threatening environment, while also being funny and kooky. The actors all committed so incredibly deeply to their characters, which is the only way to do a pantomime so massive props to them as well!
What I didn't like
I kind of wish there had been more breaking of the fourth wall! There were a couple of occasions where the characters spoke and interacted with us and I genuinely wish there had been more because those moments were so fun. Also, occasionally an actor would start speaking before we were doing cheering or booing so it was hard to understand what they were saying, but such is the nature of the pantomime.
My overall impression
What a wonderfully chaotic show! I love pantomimes and this one does not let you down. The songs are catchy and fun, and the characters are silly and lovable (yes even the villain). Can’t wait to visit Prickly Pear Patch again :)
