What I liked

Paris + Juliet delightfully reminded me of a reinvention of my favorite play, “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead” – a play set in between written scenes of Hamlet, looking at the absurdist void between the pages following two side characters in the drama. What does Paris see on the sidelines as he looks at the star-crossed lovers? Paris+Juliet pulled me through laughter, intrigue, and shock. Charlie kept me coyly smirking with a bro, dabbing and dabbling in poetry despite his savage critique of the saccharine. Charlie Day swoons us and sickens us in this perfect mix of clown and charismatic Shakespearean bile.

My overall impression

Charlie was so connected and real while being SUCH a dumb dumb bro. What a charmer! He had us in the palm of his hands. Somehow Charlie made us love him then hate him then love him again even deeper. Bigger than life, absurdist and alive. We were flung between the pages of one of the most classic plays of our time. Charlie made the Old feel New. Charlie brought us dumb Americans in by leveling with us that Shakespeare is hard to understand but then suddenly made it so easy to understand, even when he too became complicated. Charlie is dangerously defiant while being soft and sincere. Charlie has been a Fringe regular for years from across the pond and we love to see his charisma schmooze the streets of Hollywood. Go see this play!!
