Paris + Juliet begins with maximum levels of silliness. But when the show reaches the tragic turn of its source material, Charlie Day effortlessly navigates the shift in tone. When “Verona’s Most Eligible Bachelor” finally has to confront who he is when he’s alone with his own thoughts, the transition is so seamless you almost forget you were just watching a comedy.
What I didn't like
N/A. I didn’t want the show to be over! But all good things must end, I suppose.
My overall impression
I saw this show last year, and was just as delighted by it on a second viewing. Paris’ reckoning with the public vs. private versions of himself is equal parts hilarious and heartbreaking.
