The frank and honest pathos of Harper’s story, some incredibly witty and hilarious observations about how desperate dudes can get when they’re trying to get laid, and the bouncy piano playing from Greg were high points. Also, they wrote some really good songs and Harper’s got a good voice.
What I didn't like
There were some opening night jitters maybe that led to some simping for the audience that was a little off putting, the diabetes joke is probably not cool, and of the many characters that Harper would slip into, one in particular, a bro-y big voice dude was obnox-o. (but maybe that’s the point, but also maybe too much and felt inauthentic).
But really these are just tiny quibbles with what is otherwise a worthwhile show that I’m sure will tighten up as they get more performances under their belts!
My overall impression
Really charming and enjoyable show — Harper can really sing and she’s got a story to tell. Some really very, very funny moments with well-written songs and great work from sideman Greg on the piano.
