I sat there with a constant mouth awide expression, as I watched Harper Rose Drummond bounce across the stage the whole show, non-stop, full showmanship at display. Her rapport with the audience, as well her incredibly game co-writer/accompinist Greg Hoffman, brought a vaudevillian quality to the whole atmosphere. Adult Baby Doll is so much more than just a one woman show, it's a full journey inside the life of Harper-Rose Drummond. Profoundly honest, this show pulls at your heartstrings as Harper explores some of the most taboo and sensitive subjects that you thought maybe no one should ever talk about on stage. And the most iconic part of this whole show, its comedic brilliance. It takes a true star to weave humor in and out of such earnest and dare I say "scary" topics. Harper allows us to finally take a breath from all the trauma we've felt alone in because she... well she sings about it from a place of lived experience. Really such a perfect mix of vulnerability and humor, Harper and Greg make an hour fly by, leaving you tired from full-body laughter and excitement. It's much more than musical comedy or a comedian singing beautifully with piano accompaniment. They play off of each other in a way that makes you feel like you're discovering parts of the show along with them while they perform songs and tell stories that are smart, funny, and honest.
