Your Mother Called is a dance‑theatre-media one person show contemplating our sense of meaning, nostalgia and facing the inevitable.
Created and performed by Kelly Bouma, a multidisciplinary performer based in Missoula, MT—the show draws on her background in physical theatre, dance and devised performance. For over a decade, she has taught acting, physical theatre, and creative drama at the University of Montana and in public schools as a guest teaching artist.
Originally hailing from the Chicago area, Kelly has performed on very small and a few very large stages in Chicago, NYC, and London. Most recently, she performed with Nicole Wolcott at the 29th annual DANCENOW at Joe’s Pub (NYC). Regionally, she works with Bare Bait Dance | Westside Theater, Broad Comedy, Missoula Children’s Theater, Off Square Theater Company (Jackson, WY). Her directing and producing credits include original dance works, theater, devised work, and short film/videos—many of which she co-creates with Mike Steinberg (also, her husband).
Your Mother Called is her newest solo work— a love letter to every woman (almost) of a certain age—on the cusp of the inevitable.
