What I liked

The narrative arc and message of the show are expertly put together. None of the dialogue feels out of place and has a great flow from scene to scene and is extremely informative for those who may not be as knowledgeable about the trans community. The parallels and puns are expertly woven and I found myself thinking about how smart some of the dialogue was many times throughout the hour.

What I didn't like

I would say mostly that she seemed super nervous, which was probably first show jitters, but I would love to see her let go a little and have the dialogue be more of a conversation between her and the audience. It felt too rehearsed at points and you could tell she wanted to be word perfect. The message is there, so if she can make the performance more relaxed and break down that fourth wall between her and her audience, this show will be phenomenal.

My overall impression

Peyton has such a presence that you instantly fall in love with her. The message of this show is strong, informative, and necessary. She weaves in and out of factual research and tongue and cheek quips seamlessly; and creates such a nurturing space in which to have these much needed conversations. She shows the audience the ugly truth of persecution in this country, but pulls you out of the depths of Hell with her expressions of pure joy.
