What I liked

I loved the writing. I loved how we are surprised by two of the characters who come in late. I really enjoyed the acting and the relationships between the group attendants. I loved how each character has a completely different story and perspective on being the “good” kid.

What I didn't like

I would love to see a full-length version that kind of breaks the monologue pattern once in a while. Maybe vignettes of conversation that take place in different areas or at different times during the meeting.

My overall impression

Good Boys Anonymous is an extremely heartfelt representation of a universal feeling—being good out of duty. We hear many different stories from people of different walks of life, but they all have something in common…their love or fear keeps them from speaking their mind and trusting their gut in order to just be themselves. And these stories are told with passion and ease by wonderful actors who truly embody this perspective. I loved the setting of the show, how the audience feels like it’s part of this support group (because we all could be). And the writing is deep and poetic while grounded and truthful. This play will make you think in all the useful ways!
