There was an unexpected ending that felt very clever and in line with the arc of the show. It was a bit hard to follow at first, but piecing together fragments in time like a puzzle was enjoyable as an audience, especially since we were not physically interacting with puzzle elements.
What I didn't like
The concept of where the performer actually is trapped in the metaphysical “escape room” – a hospital, or a bedroom, or a family’s living room, or back at the burned apartment, the broad water theater itself, or an entirely imaginary memory space – was unclear. The core question of WHO is forcing the performer to relive these memories and WHY did they create an escape room as the conduit was stuck in my mind throughout the show. I’ll be forever haunted that my friend and I were 30 seconds late. Maybe we just missed that exposition?
