I love puzzles (crossword and escape room alike). Tigers are my favorite animal. I grew up in Boston. This show might have been written for me? Emily Boyle delights us and moves our hearts in equal measure, using memories and memorabilia to guide us through a multilayered, multidimensional escape room. I don’t want to give too much away because this really needs to be experienced. I knew I was going to be in for a treat when I heard a Boston accent that was strong without being cartoonish. Boyle is skillful at inhabiting very different characters in rapid succession, bearing those characters’ faults/flaws/idiosyncrasies with grace and respect. The impressions felt accurate rather than being caricatures. Boyle bears her heart and describes a period of great pain and turmoil, and leaves us with a little more strength. What a gift!
What I didn't like
Marketing, I guess? Far too few people were in that audience for the caliber of that show. I know it’s preview week, but get yourself a ticket and spread the word!
My overall impression
Skillful dialogues woven together by a perfect metaphor!
