I loved the “pros and cons” structure; it gave the show a really satisfying framework. I also loved that his personal backstory gave me just enough to truly understand him as a person and why I should care about his specific point of view. His easygoing energy makes the audience feel like they are sitting at a bar, having a conversation with someone who is at a crossroads, but a fun, exciting crossroads. The specific, vivid details of his international travels are brilliant. As someone who hasn’t traveled across international waters yet, I found it incredibly informative and educational; it actually inspired me to want to pack a bag and get out there! He strikes a fantastic balance between laugh-out-loud anecdotal comedy and genuine, reflective insight into human connection across cultural lines.
What I didn't like
No notes! The pacing was great and the writing completely held my attention from start to finish.
My overall impression
Pivotal Nomad is the epitome of engaging, conversational comedy. Mike Blaha has an ease about him on stage, blending his natural comedic timing with a global travelogue that keeps the audience captivated from start to finish. It is witty, interesting, heartfelt, and expertly paced.
