The language of the storytelling is rich. Ryan has found a unique and distinctive voice and manner for each of the characters which propels his very personal and often quite humorous narrative. The transitions are quick, crisp and serve the play well.
What I didn't like
I am hoping the lighting transitions have moved towards “smoother”. Ryan is quick, and the cues were sometimes a bit abrupt as the lighting tech tried to get there with him. Only a minor tech annoyance, but it managed to pull my attention away from the strength of the piece
My overall impression
I’m so glad I had the opportunity to see how amazing Ryan is as an artist and performer! The story of his journey away from the pain and abuse of an alcoholic and narcissistic parent and towards a life on his own terms is so well written and presented this show is a wild ride from start to finish.
