Violence, family enmeshment, alcoholism, shame, dysfunction. Funny and fucked up. Tragic and comic. Hilarious and devasating. Pretty much how I lived it: It was hilarious, and devastating.
I play five characters: Mother, Father, Stepfather, Myself, Therapist. Each absurd in their own right, some redemable, some perhaps not.
This show is for you if you have experienced darkness (or can face it) and despite everything, still find humor in it. A tragicomedy, a traumedy, You’re Not My Dad will make you laugh and hopefully cry. For me, both have been equally necessary.
