The women who played the pod casters were fully committed and right in the world of the play.

My overall impression
This play was a chilling reminder that there are two predominant camps in this culture right now (I’m not really in either one). The first (whom this play is “sending up”)(in other words: mocking) view my existence (as a trans person) as an abomination; suitable only for mockery and disdain (in other words: a joke). The second (who consider themselves an ally to me, others like me, and other marginalized individuals) view my existence, at best, as suitable ammunition in their disdain and mockery of the first group (in other words, also a joke). The reminder about the first group was unnecessary; in that they are in a constant state of reminding me of their thoughts and feelings towards me. The reminder about the second group was far more necessary; in that I habitually/conditionally, both consciously and subconsciously, try to forget that truth about them. Am I really supposed to believe there is a difference in the way one person or group of people use my existence as a punch line, as apposed to another? It feels like I am. And that’s a pretty tall ask. It’s really sad. I cried myself to sleep after seeing this play.
