EVERYTHING! Alexander fucking Burke!? Anděl’s connection with the audience (and classic playfully combative relationship with Alex) was fantastic. The inclusion of the audience in attempting to create “the perfect solo show” is such a great concept that could go horribly wrong, but Anděl is so skilled and confident that the show is so perfectly (and purposefully) imperfect… and I fell in love with every imperfection. Recognition and surprise, on repeat, yielding endless laughs. I also just sang half the song “Falling Slowly” randomly in the middle of the set… It was weird, it was fun, it’s what Fringe is all about!
What I didn't like
Anděl!! It was perfect!!
My overall impression
I came in having no clue what I was walking into and left being absolutely blown away by the level of skill, connectivity, and Anděl’s awareness of her own strength as an improviser. The loose structure allowed for a maximum amount of chaotic laughs, while keeping the audience engaged. Also, Alex Burke was in it?? What the fuck? Let me start over. I came in thinking Anděl is a nice person whose show I was hoping would be good. I left thinking Anděl is a mad genius and one of the most gifted improvisers I think I’ve had the pleasure of watching perform.
