Junru is an artist to the fullest extent. It was incredible to experience her story through words, through circus and through dance. Integrating unbelievably high level circus tricks with tender moments of acting and movement created one of the most unique live performances I’ve ever experienced. ... full review

An absolutely incredible show. Junru Wang delivers a performance for the history books. We watch as she gracefully performs the most beautiful movements I've ever seen, and then explains the horrors it took to get there. Simultaneously stunningly magnificent and grotesquely terrifying, I questioned my own values as she told us of the sacrifices it took for her to achieve the movements we were applauding. I couldn't help but feel remorse for the little girl who lost her childhood, but I could not deny that what she got out of it was something unique and elegant. Was it worth it? Body as An Archive is a showcase of what happens when story and technical ability come together to create something remarkably beautiful. This show's premiere was met with standing ovation, and I'm glad I got to be one of the first to see it onstage. Junru's writing, performance, and ability to connect with the audience left me speechless throughout the course of her show. What she does is incredible—a sight that tops any show I've watched this Fringe season. I left the theater with a smile of amazement on my face and one thought that stayed with me throughout my entire drive home: this is what Hollywood Fringe is about.
