Junru’s story is so beautifully and heartbreakingly told in Body As An Archive. Her story is both shocking, mesmerizing, vulnerable, and moving. From moments of humor that made us laugh to the shock and tear-jerking details of everything she had to endure throughout her life so far, and at such a young age. Her lighting, music choices, and dialogue had the entire crowd holding their breath in anticipation and awe. Junru’s ability to overcome and find passion for her artisty is nothing short of inspiring, and everyone truly needs to hear her story. ... full review

Beautiful. A harrowing experience is presented with wisdom, insightfullness, passion, and delight. It's about someone discovering themselves and who they are and that they can be so much more than they thought they were. It's about self-expression and art. I was bowled over.... full review

Miraculous. I am not exaggerating, blowing smoke, or overstating this show. It was miraculous. Junru’s story is miraculous, her performance is miraculous, the weight and emotion of the show, it is all miraculous. This is, by far, one of the most powerful, heartwarming, heartbreaking, breathtaking pieces of art I have ever had the fortune of experiencing. There is nothing less than everything to be taken away from this beautiful work. Also, she is one hell of a talented contortionist, but she is oh so much more.... full review

Junru is an artist to the fullest extent. It was incredible to experience her story through words, through circus and through dance. Integrating unbelievably high level circus tricks with tender moments of acting and movement created one of the most unique live performances I’ve ever experienced. ... full review

An absolutely incredible show. Junru Wang delivers a performance for the history books. We watch as she gracefully performs the most beautiful movements I've ever seen, and then explains the horrors it took to get there. Simultaneously stunningly magnificent and grotesquely terrifying, I questioned my own values as she told us of the sacrifices it took for her to achieve the movements we were applauding. I couldn't help but feel remorse for the little girl who lost her childhood, but I could not deny that what she got out of it was something unique and elegant. Was it worth it? That is a question only Junru can answer. ... full review

Body as An Archive is a showcase of what happens when story and technical ability come together to create something remarkably beautiful. This show's premiere was met with standing ovation, and I'm glad I got to be one of the first to see it onstage. Junru's writing, performance, and ability to connect with the audience left me speechless throughout the course of her show. What she does is incredible—a sight that tops any show I've watched this Fringe season. I left the theater with a smile of amazement on my face and one thought that stayed with me throughout my entire drive home: this is what Hollywood Fringe is about. I texted 4 friends right after the show. I promise you, this is one you'll want to buy tickets for.... and fast, be... full review
