This was the best show I’ve seen at fringe this year! The acting was so beautiful and natural, I really believed every moment. Rush is a truly gifted writer- his words surprised me and made me think! The direction was simple and really let the story shine. The piece was creative, bold, unique, and truly impressive. Go see it!!! ...

Subtle, deft, and wonderfully strange two-hander (almost…) in which two very different people circle their differences. It’s so involving the way their conversation starts small, just them trying to connect and be understood, and the holes start to widen, until they’re drawn back into the mire of their childhood roles, their resentments towards each other and themselves, the ways they care for and shun each other. The ending finds us implicated with a moment of pure theatrical daring. Go see it!!!...

Kudos for White Lilies! The play is a gripping two-hander (well, maaaaybe a three-hander ; ) ) centering around the fragile bonds of family. The production grabbed me right away with an utterly convincing piece of stage magic that haunted the story all the way to its startling conclusion. The play is tightly written, full of conflict and heartache, a tale of two brothers and the recent history that draws them together while pushing them apart. There are a number of well-placed twists and reveals that drive story--many layers at play here! I’m dying to reveal the final WTF?! moment, but you just have to see it…

White Lilies is a concise, well-written one-act drama that is grounded in stellar performances from its leads, Andre Cazenave and JC Best. Between them, the two actors bring a depth of relationship to the brothers that they play, making every minute of the play's hour engaging. The script gives the actors room to shine in the back-and-forth of its dialogue, and it includes a touch of surrealism that works well to heighten the impact of its psychological themes. The set, though spare, does a lot with a little to bring out the reality of the characters. Go see this play! ...

A very powerful and moving two-hander. The script naturally and effortlessly folds out into next chapter that moves the characters more. The acting really shines with how much it grows into heavy emotion with each later beat of the show. The score created the perfect atmosphere for the characters as well - and so impressive to know it's all from a composer! Everything about this show feels like it shines - a great job to the whole cast and crew! ...

When theatre finds a way to surprise you, you've witnessed something special. "White Lillies" did that and more. Bolstered by a raw and honest performance by JC Best, this play has been one of the highlights of the Fringe this year for me. In fact, this piece makes a strong case to the city of Los Angeles that audiences should invest more into local, independent theatre. Bravo to Rush Z and everyone involved for creating a thoughtful, magical piece of theatre. ...

White Lillies is beautifully concise–intimately portraying grief and the tenderness and fracture of family. The tension between one’s own felt truth and how that truth is held by another is achingly human to witness.
The writing is clever and restrained. The cast exposes visceral emotion, pulling the audience somewhere they didn’t expect to go. Bravo to everyone who brought this to life!...
