Fabulous writing, direction and story! What stood out most was Barrett DeYoung’s command of theatrical form. Through clear lighting, compelling character shifts, and clever manipulation of character perspective, he used the stage itself as a storytelling tool. Moments where time paused to reveal the protagonist’s inner thoughts felt seamless, heightening both the humor and the tension without ever disrupting (and in fact enhancing) the flow of the play. Every theatrical element served the story, building toward an emotionally resonant and hilarious experience. Barrett is a sensational writer and director whose confidence and creativity were evident in every aspect of the production.

My overall impression
What a fantastic show! Barrett DeYoung showcases his immense talents as both writer and director as he blends worlds and genres seamlessly.
His writing explores the anxiety and emotional burden of being a therapist struggling with her own problems, creating a story that was both deeply human and consistently engaging. He writes with nuance and authenticity, giving his characters complexity, vulnerability, and wit. The actors both gave compelling, layered and strong performances.
