By far one of the most thought provoking shows I have seen in a very long time. The Art of Reassurance tackles a heavy, dramatic narrative but elevates it by leaning into bold, experimental elements. Under the sharp, insightful direction of Donny Dahlman, these ambitious choices feel incredibly cohesive. Dahlman masterfully balances the play's weightier moments, ensuring that the well-timed sprinkles of comedy land perfectly, giving the audience room to breathe without breaking the dramatic tension.

Since the show is only an hour, there's only so much that could be done within that timeframe. Even with some hiccups throughout that caught me off guard, it doesn't change the fact that I was emotionally invested all throughout. It has its funny moments as well as some hard-hitting moments that really left me thinking, even days after the fact. The characters are flawed but very endearing, which definitely could be a hard balancing act, especially with the lead character. It all comes out to be a very deep, thought-provoking, relatable experience that although the themes and subject matter aren't for everyone, the people that get it can understand what it all boils down to at the end of the story. It’s an hour long and the first half was a bit light and frantic while the second half was darker and put the story together. At first I didn’t think there was a story to be told as it felt very experimental. Not sure why it opened the way it did, there were some chuckles in the beginning but the mood switched quickly. ...
