The set is cleverly indicative of the setting; the Playbills on everyone’s seats are gorgeous; the costuming is specific and character-driven. The actors commit to every turn and line with precision.
What I didn't like
A wonderful piece.
My overall impression
A masterful mindfuck of a playwriting debut. Covarrubias writes with a whip-smart voice and a stages Alps, Adieu! with a gorgeous visual language. She uses every inch of the stage well and buries her Chekhov’s guns so masterfully that you’ll repeatedly laugh too hard to noice the shit about to hit the fan. This piece has the high-velocity plot twists, almost comically specific premise, and hyperrealistic characters of an EXCELLENT film. Each character has a distinct voice, a clear arc, and is brilliantly acted.
