What I liked

Jon is a very skilled performer and is able to deliver punchlines, jump scares, and earnest truths with ease. The show packed a lot of technical elements into the small performance space to create a riveting hour of live theatre.

What I didn't like

Not a critique, but maybe a warning? I did have something extremely SPOOKY happen on the way home from this show! My husband and I were talking about the mysterious entity that has followed Jon’s family, and one of our cell phones triggered its emergency SOS response, complete with loud sirens and flashing lights. It was just sitting next to us in the car. We can’t even get the phone to do it again when we try! Hopefully Bubby was just telling us to keep our eyes on the road!

My overall impression

Something Spooky is a genre-bending confessional about how a family’s scary stories can be a vital link to our past. Equal parts, funny, poignant, and eerie, the artist’s uses his own supernatural anecdotes to bring new meaning to the saying “they’re here with us in spirit.”
