My favorite aspects were the performer’s comedic timing and improvisation. There was a moment when the show was already starting and a couple had come in, looking for seats so the performer improv’d with them, immersing them into the show. It was funny and made me as an audience member feel more a part of the performance itself. Speaking of which, I really liked how the audience was brought in as part of the story. It felt like the story could breathe and didn’t just belong to one person, but to a community in that room. My favorite part was when the performer asked an audience member about how to manage anxiety, and she responded, “I talk to my friends and I journal and I try to take care of myself as best as I can . . . You’re doing great, girlie pop.” So good!
What I didn't like
Personally, I cannot think of any at the moment because I’m basking in how much I enjoyed it.
My overall impression
I was really astounded by how raw and real it felt while balancing so many comedic elements. I went to the Thursday night showing on the 25th and it was my first time ever attending a solo act performance. I enjoyed it very much.
