The live band! The show would have lacked a certain pizazz without it’s many musical hits being played by a talented roster of musicians. They were spectacular. I especially enjoyed one of the band’s vocalists taking to the stage and performing a burlesque number of their own!
The costumes! I mean… If you’re watching burlesque and you’re not salivating over the wardrobe (before it comes off), there’s an issue. The perfect amount of glitz and glitter!
The inclusivity! I saw a vast amount of diversity and inclusion on that stage and that’s always a huge win. Bravo!
What I didn't like
My one concern was the seating. The risers in the audience were placed in a slight semi circle, but in order to create that slight curve, there were breaks in the risers and thus certain sections had large holes between the seating platforms. I did notice when the lights were up that those breaks did have gaff tape on the corners to indicate the end of a platform. However, in the dim light of the show, a woman was attempting to find her seat and fell into one of these breaks in the risers.
My overall impression
This is not The Little Mermaid you know but it’s the one you need when there’s money to be thrown and tassels to be swung!
