What I liked

Through a wide range of vocalization and interpretive physicality, Olga creates a number of very specific characters and environments, to reveal the very personal analysis of one’s own value as a parent, after a troubling experience being parented.

Olga’s impressive technique and sense of playful intimacy cultivates an atmosphere that puts you right in the room with her, as she takes you around the world and into the depths of her experiences from a child to a mother, and from a well-intentioned trouble maker to a flourishing artist making good trouble, right before your eyes.

What I didn't like

We were warned before the show began that the venue was having tech issue. As a result, sound cues were absent and the light board seemed possessed (it happens…). The irony is that with the missing assistance of sound and lighting, there was nothing to hide behind and the strength of the material and it’s execution were all the more impressive.

My overall impression

‘Becoming Apparent’ is a specially complete Solo Show, in that the story and it’s storyteller are so present that the conclusion feels like an arrival to a place you’ve been brought to throughout the experience of the story itself. Like a gentle inner-child holding your hand through the inevitable, Olga Konstantulakis walks no, dances the audiences through some very relatable experiences that are branded into her psyche and sense of self worth.
