The one thing I needed was maybe a grounding into the story off the bat when the text started streaming through the audience. I loved the opening “shot” so to speak, but it took me some time to get on board with the story train. Once I was on I didn’t flinch though.
My overall impression
This piece mesmerized me and took me to so many different places in one theater. I empathized with the artist’s personal story as I was reminded of mine, and cried with her while I was sitting in the front row watching. I was blown away by the depth and aliveness of the show. And I loved all the elements mixed into it—the movement, the poetry, the nonlinear timeline, the characters, the rawness of the story! I was so moved! I will be going back to see it again. This kind of authenticity is the need of the hour in our stories and in our world right now. Thank you to this artist for opening up her heart and showing us the core of her soul 🙏🏼
