Through the immersive quality of the show, you are immediately drawn in to the story, because you are a part of it now. Cast members ask open questions to the audience, pick on certain audience members, and we go through it all together. I really enjoyed that, but I also enjoyed the fact that the immersive quality of the show was optional. If you wanted to be a part of it, you would wear glow sticks. I also loved how the show went places that were so dark, but behind the veil of comedy, I couldn’t help but laugh through it all. This was a celebration of Campy Horror movies, gay culture, and horror rock musicals all wrapped into a 45 minute immersive experience.
What I didn't like
There were moments where I believe the show could absolutely improve. I think it could do with a tighter ending. Instead of wrapping the show with with a cliffhanger, grab one of the audience members use the improv and immersive quality of the show. I also believe the audio levels could use some help, specifically with Sara since I felt I lost a bit of her story and felt that contributed to my lack of connection with her.
My overall impression
Absolutely hilarious! A mix of unhinged romance, unrequited love, a mystery to be solved, and total campiness to make for a very unique horror musical. I was cracking up from the start until the final bow. This show was like nothing I’ve seen before. The songs, the character development, the acting all made for a great show. I felt like there were transformations on all fronts.
