What I liked

I was sold on this after seeing how much overlap there was between this show and Unknown Artists’ other Fringe entry, On The Line. And I was not disappointed. This show is a wild ride, guaranteed to have you laughing and singing along until one of the gut-punch revelations hits you.

All the Sirens and the two men terrorizing them were incredible, but I wanted to call out some highlights. I was really glad to see Jeff Scot Carey flex his musical and theatrical muscles here (he was fantastic in OtL, but gets more stagetime here). He’s a total rock star. Is he in a band? Are they playing somewhere soon? Can I get a ticket? It was also great to see Pamela Eberhardt onstage in addition to penning the script. Her (apologies for the incoming pun) fiery grit was a welcome addition and resigned bitterness made me want to follow her into battle. (More than I already do.) And Emily Clark. How do I even begin? She and her wild eyes are the crown jewel of every stage picture, her voice is gorgeous, and she brings so much commitment and nuance to her roles.

The finale medley was one of the most epic moments I’ve experienced. Cannot wait to see what’s next from this talented bunch!

What I didn't like

The venue. I get why they chose it—-pickings are slim for cabaret shows in Hollywood, especially those wanting to be central to the Festival. But…the mics constantly cutting out? Random blackouts? The performers needing to verbally request tech cues from the stage? The price of drinks? C’mon, Three Clubs. The Sirens deserve better.

My overall impression

A raucous revue of ’90s classics provides structure for a feminist story of devious scientists undermining, abusing, and repressing women.
