What I liked
I really liked when they flipped the gender on songs. #1 Crush and Ben Folds were welcomed takes. While there were some singers stronger than others, overall – the voices blended pretty well and everyone was Committed 100% – pun intended. I thought the mental hospital owner had a big job and executed it well. The 90’s medley is a genuine masterpiece.
What I didn't like
Some of the tech was a little sloppy – but that’s the way of fringe. This is also pretty nitpicky but, while the story and dialogue were seemingly ‘easy’ on purpose (as is the style of the comedy) – I felt like the script nailed that tone… mostly. There were only a few lines/jokes where I thought to myself… “almost”. Fringe’s 2025 fries (Which was my favorite fringe show last year) writer/performer seems to be simply having a good time with this jukebox cabaret – and she can sing the dictionary to me any day. Looking forward to phone.
