What I liked
Sam has a fantastic face, voice, and presence. Big aura!! She brings so much of herself to the stage and it’s impossible to look away, even when she’s chugging her 50th cardboard beer! The makeup and costume and props, all of it, A+. The audience participation bits were so fun and weird.
On a personal note, I spent my teen years the rural desert of California and it’s basically exactly like Sam’s memories of smalltown Mississippi. I got PTSD flashbacks from watching this. Complimentary!! Sam has made a very engaging and funny show out of circumstances that can honestly be described as dire. There’s gold in them there hills.

My overall impression
Sam Gibson is a fearless, vibrant performer, fully committed to every ridiculous clown offer and bringing the whole audience along for the ride! “Country Girl Makes Do” is so evocative of a certain time and place, playing with different levels of heaviness and lightness from Sam’s personal history. I loved it.
