The writing is the star of the show. But I also really dig the conceit of hearing the callers. It turns a three person show into a ten person show. And the phone performances were all very good.
What I didn't like
Getting the phone conversations to line up wasn’t flawless, but I saw it during its preview, so when you, dear reader see this show (and you should) that will likely be worked out.
I also personally wanted the end to be lighter, more hopeful. But I’m kinda glad it wasn’t.
My overall impression
This is a super engaging, fun, dark and clever show. It’s real theatre. This is a play. Sometimes at Fringe we tend to favor clowns or dance or music or one person shows, which all have their places, but I love theatre. And this is that.
