Frost-Venrick is an incredible performer, and understands perfect horror pacing so, so well. He was able to override my instincts and lure me (and the rest of the audience) into doing something that nobody should ever do in a horror setting. I particularly liked his recounting of a German folktale. The tone of his delivery set me on edge throughout and kept me wondering if something spooky was happening behind me. The lighting is stark and dramatic, augmenting the story very well.
What I didn't like
For a show that incorporates dim and colored lighting so significantly, they are in a difficult location. They’re not able to fully black out the windows (and I wish they had tried to while the audience was being seated, not after the mangled land acknowledgement) and I wish it were put up in a darker space. There are also some minor quirks to work out regarding storage of props—-we lost a little time retrieving something from a discarded jacket.
