The writing and character arcs here are really strong. All four of the actors are fantastic, each with distinctly unique problems and complex relationships with each other that they are navigating. Ellen is able to balance glib teen sex gossip with heavy topics about the impacts of sexual assault and how it leaves it’s victims. I particularly liked how she held off the tonal shift to the end of the play, which made for a very unique experience.
What I didn't like
The four actors were superb, but I wanted to meet some of the other people we kept hearing about!
My overall impression
What starts as a fun sexy teen hookup show has immense depth that I didn’t see coming. I absolutely loved the tonal shift and messaging behind the play. The writer and actor, Ellen Relac, is brimming with talent in the way her story is laid out and her stunning performance. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover, this show is so much more than what you may think.
