Consent stayed a clear strong theme in light of the drug and alcohol use.
Characters were mostly well drawn.
There was a strong world depicted outside of the one we saw that held expectations on our characters that felt real and easy to grip with.
Comedy was witty and well timed; sex positive in a funny way! The drama was generally satisfying and heartbreaking, and completely reframed the scenes before, which makes this play easily rewatchable.
What I didn't like
The scene transitions were unnecessarily long.
This didn’t pass the bechdel test! Like probably. I wish there was a scene where the women talked about something other than the men.
(SPOILERS)
Why did he leave??? Like I get why, but we’re not going to unpack that at all? It was a great moment, but felt a little late without any resolve. Yeah, that’s life. But he felt like an object of desire and a bit two dimensional with his ending.
My overall impression
A funny relatable exploration of complex camp counselor relationships under the guise of promiscuity, with thoughtful insights into the dangers and vulnerability of fleeting love.
