Bean (Midge Lema) does an incredible job of taking care of the audience. Through moments of audience interaction, intense eye contact, and vulnerable subject matter, she stays confident and in control, creating a space where the audience feels comfortable going along for the ride, which I greatly appreciated.
I also LOVE the blend of absurdist comedy and genuine vulnerability. From the hilarious songs to the unexpected appearance of JahJah, the show has so much fun while never losing sight of its emotional core. It truly feels like a space voyage, carrying you through both exhilarating and heartfelt moments.
Most of all, I loved how thought-provoking it is. I’ve never seen a sci-fi comedy explore grief in such a creative and unique way. It offers a fresh perspective on the human experience, and it’s a show I haven’t been able to stop thinking about since.
What I didn't like
The songs are one of my favorite elements of the show, and I’d love to hear a bit more variation between them—whether through chord progressions, melodies, pacing, or additional synth textures—to help each song feel even more distinct and memorable! Also, maybe merch to support the show? I would love a sticker. Perhaps “I went to space with Jah Jah wood”!
My overall impression
This show is both delightfully absurd and a profoundly vulnerable exploration of grief and the human experience. I’ve seen it twice, and each time it has stayed with me long after I left the theater. Whether it’s the funny songs still stuck in my head or the way it prompts me to reflect on how I process grief, it’s a show that lingers in the best way.
