What I liked
The media backdrop was used to good effect and I found the juxtaposition of the events of McKinnon’s life with what was going on in the US at the time very interesting as a way of giving the audience a sense of the time periods and context in which the play was unfolding. Even though the play was just an hour, McKinnon did a great job of drawing the audience into his story and getting one to feel empathy with his character.
What I didn't like
We so thoroughly enjoyed the show, I am not sure what, if anything, I would suggest doing differently.
My overall impression
The show was fantastic! The themes of self-esteem, self-acceptance as well as acceptance by others and also dealing with family issues, were handled in a very relatable manner. McKinnon does a fantastic job of keeping a fast moving pace while presenting the various characters that the main actor is dealing with. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the play.
