What I liked
The pace of the show was spot-on, the characters, and the mix of media as well as lighting really pulled it all together. I especially liked the news segments, which very clearly placed the audience in a time period that seems so distant yet relatable now. McKinnon had my full attention from start to finish during this performance.
What I didn't like
More news segments!! I loved them, and with an overwhelming current news cycle, it was interesting to remember where we were as a country and how it has progressed and impacted where we are now as a society.
My overall impression
6/10 was a captivating performance that takes you on a journey of love, finding oneself, family dynamics, self discovery and ultimately happiness. I was left feeling impressed by McKinnon’s ability to take you through so many personal and pivotal moments in his life while commanding attention, laughter, sadness and at times disappointment and anger from the audience. I have seen this performance twice now and am looking forward to seeing it again.
