There is so much great character work here: the women that Vickie befriends are each worthy of their own show. I loved the interstitials crafted as commercial breaks. And I loved that Vickie was able to be the butt of her own joke.
What I didn't like
We learn so much about Vickie in this piece, but I would’ve love to have left learning more about her motivation. How has she grown and changed from this experience? How is she different upon returning from when she first left?
My overall impression
A whacky and amusing ride through Hayley’s time abroad, presented through carefully crafted vignettes. Great jokes, informed and careful handling of Korean culture, and tons of early 2000s references. A surprising solo show that fulfills on it’s premise!
