I especially loved the ensamble work in Sage Center. I deeply felt and sympathized for the patients, especially with the character Mona, who has experienced sexual violence and now paranoia and fear dictate her entire reality. There is a scene between the characters Mona, a patient at the facility, and Ashley, a staffer at the facility, that moved me to tears. The scene was so connected in attempting to understand someone whose reality is different than yours, not fighting it, just sitting in the dark with them and going from there. Bravo ladies.

My overall impression
Sage Center is a moving and engaging piece that follows a young man, Corey, as he navigates his own mental hardships while beginning to work in a in a critical mental health facility. Throughout the play, we as an audience see the world through Corey’s eyes. Mental heath is explored in conjunction with human identity. How do we accept the things we cannot change, and work with them as we try and create a safe and healthy life for ourselves?
