The casting! Oh my God, the casting was perfect. Everyone really brought it and was so captivating to watch. Also, this is a minor thing, but I hate sloppy transitions and all the scenic transitions were so smooth. Overall, very tight direction.
What I didn't like
I felt that “the” scene (no spoilers, but if you see it, you know what I’m talking about) was a bit drawn out and didn’t need to be that long – imported on being gratuitous for the sake of shock value. Overall, the writing is strong, but there are definitely parts that I think benefit from some trimming because the main antagonist almost becomes so cartoonishly evil, which is grounded in a very believable truth of this kind of person in the comedy scene, but it feels a bit unbearable at points as an audience member. My only other note was, I felt the ending left me wanting more – the final look towards the audience felt a little campy. But other than that, I really really really love this production, and I highly encourage people to see it because I thought it was really powerful, raw, well written and well directed.
My overall impression
Sort of a near perfect Fringe show. Character driven tight ensemble, somewhere in between a comedy and a thriller. A really fun night at the theatre and a really well done production.
