What I liked
Jim Blanchett is a delight to watch. He delivers a smart, witty, and charming performance as a Christmas caroler walking the line between cynicism and genuine love for his craft. From the very first moment he shares his list of the top six most requested holiday songs, you are hooked. The songs are not what you expect, yet the minute he reveals each one you feel it in your bones that you should have known all along.
One of my favorite moments was watching Jim transform this one-person show into a magical quartet. He effortlessly guides you through a world of highs and lows, reminding us that life is precious and that moments of loss rarely arrive with good timing. He made us laugh. He made us tear up. And “Damn it, Jim,” as his t-shirt declared, felt exactly right.

My overall impression
Having had the pleasure of watching Jim (and his wonderfully talented producer-wife Lisa) carol in real life during holidays past, this felt like a fun and illuminating peek behind the curtain. What becomes clear is that carolling is so much more than singing a few holiday songs. The artistry and effort required to bring genuine joy to others is no small feat, and like any craft it comes with its own highs, lows, and hidden challenges that the outside world never sees.
I highly recommend this show.
