Both Marie Sadd and Shelby Ryan Lee are incredibly charming in this comedy about what happens to us (or…well…at least to our remains) after we die, and how we choose to spend our time while living. Sadd’s writing is lively (sorry) and her performance is perfect. She imbues the Bone Lady with a quirky energy and immense depth you can’t help but adore and feel for. Lee plays David with an amusing exasperation, hinting at deeper levels to his psyche than what we see. The script (IRL “Bone Lady-approved,” the writer confirmed for me after the show) subtly encourages us not to be afraid of death, and reassures us that we’re all worth remembering. A love letter to the passionate people working in odd professions.
What I didn't like
Lee’s delivery was hard to hear at times. That’s in line with the character, but we do need to hear what’s being said! Also (and I know this is going to sound trite) but I really really wish the show were longer! I wanted to spend more time with both of these characters.
