About the Project
THE BODY features four darkly comedic short plays that all center on a mysterious death – and the wildly varying POVs of the people who watch the tragedy unfold. The “body” in question (never shown to the audience) brings up issues for all the witnesses: grief, sex & fidelity, family dysfunction, addiction, corporate greed and social media obsession. How did it happen? Why did it happen? Who was involved? Suspicions, assumptions, judgments and sensationalism swirl around the event.
Each vignette is a take on a genre – rom-com, thriller, dramedy and satire – set in four different units of an apartment building rumored to be the hottest in the city. The connected plays include “Content” and “Fish” both written and directed by Janna King; “Seance” and “Leverage” both written by Genah Redding and directed by Allen Barstow.
