I liked that the play explored psychological issues, like lack of self love, being codependent, having walls up and those topics were really well worked into the action of the plot. I was also super impressed with all the physicality – the fight choreo was great, getting hit in the face with the door was super effective.
The lights and the sound cues were all perfectly timed, I was really impressed with that. They even used audio during a set change – like even during a dark set change they utilized the time to tell story.
At no point did it feel like there was a moment where the timing was off. It was so seamless. That was super impressive.
And the 2 lead characters had satisfying emotional arcs and were changed by the end, PLUS the ending was very touching.
What I didn't like
The ONE thing that could be improved: the “revelation” that reveals who the bad guy is – give it time to LAND before taking the next action.
My overall impression
Wow, I was so impressed with this play! It was well written and well acted – it moved along at a quick pace right from the beginning with no parts that felt like they were lagging. I was especially impressed they included a time jump – a flashback! Genius! Which seems hard to pull off in live theater.
