It was immediately clear that this show was put up with a lot of attention, love and care. It hearkened back to playwriting of a different era, which can be tricky in the wrong hands, but this team executed it beautifully.... full review

John Patrick Shanley’s Danny and the Deep Blue Sea is a notorious pressure cooker of a play, demanding immense emotional stamina from its performers. In this exceptional production at the Hollywood Fringe Festival, I was treated to a fabulous display of acting, directing, set design, and radical storytelling that left a profound, inspirational impact. What makes this particular staging so brilliant is its audacious, modern twist: the character of Danny is re-imagined. Instead of the traditional dynamic, we witness two women—both fiercely protective, isolated, and deeply troubled souls—colliding in a rundown bar. It transforms the narrative from a standard gritty drama into a deeply moving exploration of vulnerability, survival, and the terr... full review

This show is like watching two broken people try to do therapy on each other and, spoiler alert, they aren't certified! Though the emotional competence of these characters may be a bit limited, the skill of the performers is not. You're in good hands with these actors who each deliver thoroughly lived-in performances. Each actor has a distinctive energy and style that balance and blend beautifully. This show is a fully realized piece of theater which is a refreshing change of pace amongst the fringe lineup, which generally includes many works-in-progress and first drafts (which is not to diminish these works, that's what fringe is for!) This is to say, you will leave this show satisfied with the completeness and professionalism of what you s... full review

First of all, I love everything with John Patrick Shandling. But oh my God, the way these two actresses brought his words to life is absolutely unimaginable. The only thing I hated about this was that it ended. I was crying and laughing at the same time. The performance of these two brilliant actresses gave me an orgy of feelings. By act two I totally forgot I was sitting in a theater. I was absolutely captivated by their truthfulness. There was absolutely no “acting”. All I saw was raw and true human experience. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a night out. Go watch the show and let these two brilliant actors dominant your heart. ... full review
