The production design was effective, I appreciated the attention to detail in the selection of items. It’s fringe, so the set is sparse, but I thought they did a lot with what they had. Many Fringe shows don’t even make an attempt to include a set or design so it was nice to see these efforts included.
I also liked the use of soundscape, it was seamless and added to the moments rather than distracted form them.
What I didn't like
I’m not gonna write anything here because it feels like a trap.
My overall impression
This show is like watching two broken people try to do therapy on each other and, spoiler alert, they aren’t certified! Though the emotional competence of these characters may be a bit limited, the skill of the performers is not. You’re in good hands with these actors who each deliver thoroughly lived-in performances. Each actor has a distinctive energy and style that balance and blend beautifully. This show is a fully realized piece of theater which is a refreshing change of pace amongst the fringe lineup, which generally includes many works-in-progress and first drafts (which is not to diminish these works, that’s what fringe is for!) This is to say, you will leave this show satisfied with the completeness and professionalism of what you saw. I would highly recommend to anyone who is a fan of this playwright or looking for a traditional theatergoing experience this fringe season. Well done!
