About the Project

K-Cordelia: Sword of the Wind is a sword dance monodrama adapted from Shakespeare’s King Lear. The story is reimagined on the Korean Peninsula in the 13th century. Cordelia is the third daughter of the King of Shilla. She has trained in sword martial arts since the age of three, and through this discipline she learns, deep in her heart, that her duty is to protect her parents.

She travels beside her father disguise, becoming  both a clown and a knight to protect him from the persecution of her sisters. With her sword, she defeats soldiers and accompanies him through hardship and exile. At night, she gazes at the stars, remembering the days when she played mask games with her father. She trains relentlessly, recalling her teacher’s words—that the highest realm of swordsmanship is a sword that moves by itself, guided by the wind. Cordelia’s sword becomes a witness to their unbreakable bond. When her father is threatened, the sword moves with the wind, and a mysterious miracle unfolds. Her extraordinary journey will make you laugh, cry, and touch your heart.

K-Cordelia: Sword of the Wind reveals the beautiful and noble journey of a daughter and a father who overcome devastating adversity together, and asks a timeless question: what does true love mean when there is nothing left to gain?
