I can’t relate to being a woman but I love the way the opening number frames the show and the challenges that are created because of societal expectations allowing us to really enjoy Christine flailing on the ground trying on the garment and appreciate that moment for her performance energy and how stupid the lengths we go to are.
The show really spoke to my own personal relationship with bread.
’I mean I liked the whole show… what do you want?
What I didn't like
Look. I got nothing? I could’ve gone 10 more minutes! But maybe it’s best left to be wanting more.
My overall impression
Christine is endlessly charming. An energetic physical comedian with a beautiful voice taking us through the highs and lows of trying to find love and external validation and those extremes create an opportunity to showcase Christine’s range as a performer. Her structure to the show assures the audience that she knows what she’s doing and the whole time I was laughing along with her and sometimes more so at myself because I so frequently thought. Ugh. Been there.
